The Photography Wheel
The Creative Hut Photography Wheel is the biggest photography wheel on record, built on 20 September 2014. Seven feet across and nine feet tall, it turns 180 years of photography, from the first camera to the latest DSLR, into one device you can read at a glance. Fourteen students and faculty built it, and six record books recognise it.
Recorded six times as the biggest
The Photography Wheel is entered in six record books, each certifying it as the biggest photography wheel of its kind.
Indian Achiever Book of Records
India Book of Records
Limca Book of Records
National Book of Records
Asia Book of Records
Miracle World Records
Six record books, one wheel: the biggest photography wheel ever built.
180 years of photography, in one turn
The Photography Wheel gathers the whole story of photography into a single device anyone can read. Turn it, and the important years, the milestones and the facts line up in a simple, innovative way, for a working photographer or someone picking up a camera for the first time.
Everything on it falls under five themes, from the world's first photograph to the most expensive camera ever made. A small hand-held version is also made, and given free to schools and colleges that want to bring photography to a new generation.
