The Professional Diploma in Photography and Cinematography at Creative Hut Academy, Kottayam, Kerala, founded in 2007, is one of India's most established routes into architecture and interior photography. Across one fully residential year you learn perspective control, vertical alignment and tilt-shift workflow, lighting for interiors, colour management, heritage and urban documentation, and post-production for lines, geometry and texture, plus walkthrough cinematography with gimbal and slider moves. You graduate with an architecture and interior portfolio and a walkthrough film, not just a certificate.

How do I keep verticals straight?
Mount the camera level with a grid or virtual horizon, set a height that keeps the foreground, and use shift, or a transform in post, instead of tilting the camera up.
How is architecture different from interior?
Architecture prioritises facade, massing, context and sun-path timing. Interior prioritises materials, colour casts, mixed lighting and human scale. Both demand strict verticals.
Which lenses and cameras are recommended?
A high-resolution body with strong dynamic range, a sturdy tripod and remote. Tilt-shift 24mm or 17mm for verticals, rectilinear wides, and a 24-70mm for detail. Add a gimbal and ND for video.
What lighting works best for interiors?
Start with window light and practicals, balance the colour casts, add bounced strobe or continuous fill for corners, and flag reflections to keep mood and material detail.
When should I use HDR bracketing?
When the dynamic range exceeds the sensor, such as bright windows or polished stone against dark wood. Lock the tripod and blend naturally to avoid haloing.
Can I learn this after 12th?
Yes. After 10+2 in any stream you can join the diploma. No prior experience is needed, only interest and commitment.
Is the certificate government recognised?
Yes. College certification with the add-on KGTE in photography under the Department of Technical Education, Kerala, and NCVET MESC accreditation.
